SUFFERING SEAS follows the theme of “FIGURATIVE PORTRAITURE”. It centers around waste products and pollutants ending up in our waters. From plastic materials, to rope and nets, these objects are all man-made and they end up harming life in the seas.
SUFFERING SEAS reflects that these materials don’t only affect sea creatures, but also end up affecting humans as well - that our ignorance will eventually come back to haunt us.

I directed SUFFERING SEAS with the concept of noir in mind. With the lack of colour bringing out the contrast of the effects of the objects on her skin, there was a deeper impact. Also, the editorial look juxtaposed with the subject was intended to bring forward how society uses environmental conservation superficially and to “green-wash” merely for social capital.
